Overview

For this assignment, you will observe and collect data about your household's garbage routines.

Do

Open, Copy, and Save the Garbage Data Collection Sheet to your Google Drive. Read all of the instructions on the Garbage Data Collection Sheet

For 24 hours, you will document all the solid waste that you or your household generates by filling in the Garbage Data Collection Sheet. You can print the chart and fill it in by hand or type your data directly into the chart. An example has been provided below. You will attach the Google Link to the follow up discussion: Garbage Data Collection.

For each item, list what is done with it (trash, recycled, composted). Try to say what you would normally do with that item (e.g., if it normally goes in the trash say trash). Then for each item that is trashed, document if it could be recycled or composted.

If possible weigh your trash and write it in the space(s) provided below the chart. Keep track of observations you make about your trash typed at the bottom of the sheet or by hand on the back of the sheet if you print it.
