C O U R S E   O U T L I N E:
2D Studio utilizes numerous types of media to explore creative solutions.  The purpose of 2D Studio is to build upon your background of utilizing art media towards becoming creative artists.  Students will explore a variety of themes and ideas and generate creative artwork.  Many of the topics explored will allow students to utilize the media of their choice.  Students will also build upon their technical art skills.

S U P P L I E S:
There is a $15 fee to be paid to Mrs. Panos in the office. This fee will cover the materials that you will receive during the year. 

A pencil, paper/sketchbook, and folder should be brought to class every day. This will be used for taking notes, designing projects and for your sketchbook assignments.

Creating/ Art Appreciation opportunities:
Sketchbook: You will be using your sketchbook daily to plan and practice techniques. You will also have 7 sketchbook assignments. Each Sketchbook Assignments will take up to an hour to complete. These can be done in any drawing/painting media you select and need. Use this opportunity to experiment with materials.

In-class readings (5) related to artists, cultures, and techniques.

Projects completed and in-process will be documented with a photo via Canvas. 

 

E V A L U A T I O N :
The class is divided into 4 sections:
          1. Sketchbook assignments/ Process (10%)

          2. Quizzes/ Critiques/ Readings (10%)

          3. Projects ------70 %--------------------------->

          4.Class Participation (10%)

Each major project is graded in 5 categories:
          -Ideation (20%) (Thought process behind composition)
          -Complexity/Effort (20%)
          -Creativity/Originality (20%)
          -Craftsmanship/Skill (20%)
          -Reflection (20%) (Upon completing a project, the      student will evaluate their own work and reflect by answering follow-up questions.)



With this being a studio-level class, you will be held to a higher standard. You will be expected to create well-developed pieces of art and become more knowledgeable about the subject. Remember, you are a role model for all of your peers in the classroom.

This class is an extension of ceramics & sculpture and glass, metal, & jewelry. You will be building upon the foundation skills learned in those classes to further yourself in three-dimensional art. You will learn new techniques and mediums as you develop your own artistic style. We will be covering the following mediums and beyond.

C L A S S R O O M   E X P E C T A T I O N S: 

  • Incase of ELearning, student, and teacher expectations will be advised through the guidance of administrators. Students will be notified of procedures and expectations and concerns via Canvas and Canvas Inbox messaging.

 

  • The class begins when the bell rings. Students should be prepared and ready to participate and work. If you arrive early, look at the board to find the daily expectations, you may begin gathering your supplies until the class starts.

  • Be mindful of our time. Participate in our activities to gain further advancement in your skills.

 

  • When the teacher is talking, or another student is contributing to the class, no one else should be talking.

 

  • Cell phones will be put away and silent during class. Per schoolwide expectations. Be courteous. Be in the moment.  



  • Classroom materials have been distributed to you and need to be taken care of with the utmost respect. Although you will get to keep some of the materials, many of the materials will be brought back to school for the following semester/ 2nd pick-up date.

 

  • Late work. Every project has a due date. You will have a 2 day grace period for assigned projects only. For every day after the grace period that the project is late, the final grade will be reduced 5 points. I will always accept a resubmission of assignments if the student would like to improve it. 

 

  • If you need more time on a project, you must make arrangements with the teacher prior to the due date. Just Canvas Message me.

 

  • When in doubt about an assignment check our Modules in Canvas!

  • If you are absent, you are responsible to find out what you missed. If your absence is excused, you will be given additional time to complete assignments you missed or turn in work. Keep ALL your handouts, sketches, etc.
