Introduction
There are opportunities for 4 Major Project Reviews throughout the EDD Course.
- Project Proposal (End of Research)
- Preliminary Design Review (End of Design)
- Critical Design Review (Prototyping)
- Final Presentation
At each review, you may be asked by your instructor to submit you work for review through one or a combination of the following deliverables for a grade.
- Written Report (Engineering Notebook, Word Document)
- Oral Presentation (Technical Presentation w/PowerPoint or visual aid)
- Electronic Portfolio (Innovation Portal)
An effective presentation is a critical step in the design process. It must clearly state the main points and precise. A review culminates with evaluation and feedback from a review panel. All presentation components should reflect preparation, anticipation, and organization and be delivered with accuracy, brevity, and clarity.
A Written Report should:
- Describe the design and the design process thoroughly.
- Document with technical accuracy the facts, data, results, and references used and collected.
- Use a standardized format for composing research papers following established written language mechanics.
- Be presented prior to the oral presentation.
An Oral Presentation should:
- Communicate all necessary project details in a clear, concise manner.
- Demonstrate confidence and enthusiasm to command the attention of the audience.
- Conclude with a strong summary that restates important points and reinforces what the audience has learned.
Visual Aids should be:
- Relevant and should clearly convey the desired information.
- Accurate 3D representation in the form of a mockup, prototype, or 3D solid model to enhance and support the presentation.
The Review of Presentation and Report should include an:
- Opportunity to present before an audience including the class, the teacher, a panel of experts, members of advisory committee, parents, other teachers, administration, and members of the media (final presentation).
- Audiences that will serve to review, validate, and provide feedback to address the technical accuracy and relevancy of the presentation.
- Assessment of the written reports, oral presentation, and visual aids using rubrics provided in the curriculum.
