Introduction

A mock-up is also referred to as a looks-like prototype or a presentation prototype. This prototype will allow others to envision your final product’s appearance (but not the operation or function). A mock-up may be especially important if constraints prevent your functional prototype’s appearance from looking like your functioning prototype. Up to this point the planning of your prototype has included material, tool, and equipment constraints. Creating this prototype may bring to light other issues that may also influence your final design for the functional prototype.
