- Submitting on paper
Overview
For this assignment, you will find sources and take notes for your research project.
Research Project Assignment:
The Research Project assignment is one of the most important and exciting assignments you will complete during this course because it asks you to take charge of your own learning using the critical thinking, reading, research, and writing skills you have been developing all quarter. Completing a research project involves many steps, so we will work through this process together as a community.
Steps of your Research:
- The Seed: Consider something that has caught your attention in our reading, writing, and discussion this quarter. It should be something that you want to know more about.
- Ponder: What do you want to find out about this specific idea or topic? What questions are you curious about? At this point, you will create a research question.
- Research: Using what you know about college research and what you will be practicing in class, find reliable and understandable sources that provide answers to your question. For this assignment, you need to use at least four credible sources (three must be articles from our library databases and one can come from a source of your choice).
- Write: Throughout the process, you will be keeping notes. When you have completed your research, you will write a thesis, a research essay, and an annotated bibliography about your topic.
- Visual: The purpose of your visual is to share information about your research topic to educate others and raise awareness. Your visual must incorporate your thesis statement and evidence from your research. Your visual will also connect your research with your local community. You will present your visual to the class in a 3 minute presentation.
Finding Sources and Taking Notes
This assignment helps prepare you for the final research project assignment. Use the information we went over in class to find four credible sources about your topic and take notes. You will bring your notes to the next class.
