Overview

In this activity you will learn how scientists define life. Figuring out if something is alive sounds easy, right? You may be surprised! Although it seems like a no-brainer, trying to figure out if something is alive or not can be complicated. The following passage and videos will help you better understand the characteristics scientists use to distinguish living things from nonliving things.

Directions

  1. Open the Tracking Concept Development handout ;and make a copy in your Google Drive.
  2. Fill in the "What I know before" column on the Tracking Concept Development Handout.
  3. Read the text passage and watch the videos.
  4. Complete the Tracking Concept Development Handout.
  5. Print your completed handout and bring it to class tomorrow.
